Pilot the SpaceY Squidship* through its atmospheric entry, descent, and lift balloon deployment in the atmosphere of Earth's twin neighbor, Venus.

* any resemblance to real squidships living or dead is purely coincidental
  • Fins can be controlled by dragging on or near the bidirectional arrow icons, or with the qw/io/as/kl keys.
  • Fin position can be equalized toward the opposite with the equal sign icons or the e/u/d/j keys.
  • Thrusters are controlled with the bottom-right icons or the ry/tg/fh keys.
  • Balloon deployment controls are under the instrument panel. Tap it to uncover them.
The instrument panel shows:
  • fin positions to both sides
  • heat shield temperature and damage on top
    (pure white is too hot)
  • attitude, angular velocity, and angular acceleration in the center
  • altitude and vertical components of velocity and acceleration on the left
(the green zone is safe altitude for balloon speed)
  • speed upward on the right
(speed is safe for balloon deployment when the green is visible and top of the thin line is under it)
  • deceleration/g-force downward on the right
(green is comfortable, red is immediately dangerous)
  • lateral acceleration below
To succeed you must:
  1. survive the initial heat pulse without skipping back out of the atmosphere
  2. slow down gradually by atmospheric drag
  3. descend to a comfortable altitude of about 60 km
  4. tap the instrument panel to reveal the balloon controls
  5. unlock and deploy the balloon

You can fail by:
  • skipping off the atmosphere and continuing in orbit
  • overheating and burning up
  • breaking up under excessive aerodynamic force
  • deploying the balloon too early so it is destroyed
  • getting crushed in the hellish lower atmosphere of Venus
